A number without a date is a rumour
Decisions rest on evidence that says how old it is
The Problem
A number without a date is a rumour. By the time someone quotes it again, nobody can say whether it is still true.
"It was fast" is not a finding. Nobody knows when it was measured, or on what.
How Stompy Helps
Lock a finding together with the date it was measured, and give it a verify-by date.
Anyone reading it knows how fresh it is and when it is due to be checked again. A recalled entry shows when it was locked, so age is visible without anyone having to remember. When the record and reality disagree, reality wins and the record gets corrected, as a new version. The record is a working claim and not scripture.
Over months you build up a dated body of evidence, and you can see at a glance which findings are fresh and which are overdue. The next piece of work starts from what was measured and not from what somebody recalls.
Limits, plainly. A verify-by date is a reminder to a person, not a job that runs. Stompy does not re-measure anything for you. The limit, plainly: only what you lock is kept.
Integration Walkthrough
Lock the finding with the date measured
Say what was measured, how, when, and when to check it again. event_date records when the measurement was taken.
lock_context(project="my-project",topic="export_job_duration",content="""Finding: the nightly export takes about 4 minutes.Measured: 2026-10-14, 12 runs, production data.Verify by: 2027-01-14""",event_date="2026-10-14")
Read it back with its age
A recalled entry carries the time it was locked, so you can see how old it is.
recall_context(project="my-project", topic="export_job_duration")
When reality disagrees, correct the record
Lock the same topic again. The new version replaces the old one and the old one stays in the history.
lock_context(project="my-project",topic="export_job_duration",content="""Finding: the nightly export now takes about 9 minutes.Measured: 2027-01-12, 10 runs, production data.Verify by: 2027-04-12""",event_date="2027-01-12")
